Gaining Visitors trust for Repeat Visitors
There can be no better pleasure for a webmaster than to see his growing and loyal customer base that keep returning. Returning customers automatically mean more traffic, more good will, more money, more sales or more of whatever the objective of your site is. But how to gain the trust of visitors? There are many sites on the net, some that come up to gain adsense arbitrage or some that aim to make instant gains for their worthless content and make money through google adsense or bidvertiser or the like.
Of course, as in my earlier articles, I emphasized that there is no alternative to original and authentic content, periodical updating, few other simple steps would help ensure the gain visitors trust and increase returning visitors
1. Have the contact information, either by way of the postal address or reference of key executives of your firm, direct telephone lines displayed on the site to assure the persons that you are just a call away should they happen to need you.
2. It may cost money but the costs would be worth it. Get your site registered with appropriate bodies that command visitors trust. This certainly would instill confidence in the visitors mind. In case you accept payments on the net through credit card, it may be absolutely essential that you have very-sign or similar certificates. Some other recommended certificates could be The Better Business Bureau (BBB) and TrustE.org which are independent nonprofits that review and provide seals of trust for web sites of all types. They employ strict controls to make sure your web site is trustworthy and require you to publish and adhere to ethical privacy policy.
3. Though, preferably, name of your site should be closer to the type of business line you are in, if you can not think of any relevant domain name, develop your own brand name. Remember Google or Microsoft names have nothing to do with the nature of business they are in. A relevant name does manage to bring in more traffic in the beginning but ultimately it is the content and quality of your site that helps you build a reputable brand name. If you can think of a good name, then of course, desirable would be to register a domain name that includes both keywords and your own unique identity.
4. if you site is an e-commerce site where you are selling some product or information, it would be good idea to mention history of your web site as well as the team behind the scenes or any other relevant facts including how long your company has been in business etc.
5. All other things being same, regular release of press releases, certainly helps a site higher rankings on search engines. There are many sites as www.prweb.com where you can issue press releases. Another good idea would be to contribute good articles related to the field of your site to another reputed sites with better PR and traffic. The said article can have link to your site as well for related data. This way your site can hope to make instant gains. Initially you can issue releases in free section of the sites that take some time in release but later on as the traffic graph picks up, you can gradually opt for paid areas as well. Display all important information or changes to your site that would help the visitors prominently on the home page of your site.
6. Program your site effectively that spiders don’t pick up emails from your site to start sending junk emails and NEVER EVER sell email addresses to any body. There may not be any need to naming any web sites, but I am sure most readers would agree that surfers have tendency to move away from websites that offer free email but sell your name and you start getting lot of junk emails, to web sites that don’t sell your email addresses.
7. Make your terms and conditions very transparent and clearly indicate refund policy, shipping information and also explain how you will legitimately deal with all requests for refunds. Do include contact details of dealing persons of your organization so customers can contact you if they need so for asking a refund or some information about shipping details. If possible, include testimonials from your customers regarding the shopping experience they had at your site. Post full details of the customer that posts an experience. You may add your own follow up to the complaint where required. Have a heart !!! even if some customer has negative to say, do include that. In the long run it would help you make your business better and site more trustworthy.
8. Let visitors know about the security features of your site as SSL (secure sockets layer) to let your customers know that you take security seriously.
