Right words translate into higher traffic
Simply speaking, wrong keywords mean lower traffic and thus lower revenue. For healthy site optimization, importance of use of right keywords can not be over emphasized. Proper keywords puts your site to a solid foundation and road to success. The sites that are not designed on established principles of healthy site as keywords either fail to attract good traffic or are forced to employ shady strategies as getting fake traffic from robots which definitely does no good to any site and rather expedites the travel of the site to sunset of search engine results. Choosing right keywords does require some research and present trend. As an example, there was a time when “biodata” was searched by visitors but now word “resume” is searched more times.
Following suggestions in selecting keywords would help you get the right keyword and density and thus help you in getting more traffic.
First; you should be focused on the theme of your site. Right from the domain name, where possible, or title tags, meta tags, alt tags for pictures or finally the content, make sure that all these do include right keywords and even the words related to your main keyword. If your site is about medical news and opinions, include various terms as medical tourism, medical symposiums, Medical equipments, forthcoming events, medicine, medical humor etc. Being vague is strict No-No.
Second; Be region specific, if you have to. If you know you are to target a particular segment then be particular and specific about the local terminology, preferences and dialect within your Title, body and anchor text.
Third; Domain Name Selection if possible. Though many seem to advocate very strongly about it but I am not. If you are able to get the domain that strongly suggests or relates to the site objective nothing like it; but ensure it is not too long and can be remembered. I have seen many good sites that had good content and I wanted to visit the site again. However, their names being rather complicated and long, next time when I type the domain name, I don’t get the site; obviously it was misspelled. If you are not able to get the domain name that is simple and related, nothing is lost. After all, what has the word “Google” to do with the business it is in, but never the less it is Industry leader. There are many examples for this. Better concentrate on content and keywords.
Fourth; Anchor Text. Try to increase natural inbound links. Never go shopping for them. These should be related, reputed sites or from your group company. These links help in two main ways. Firstly; these links help your website by sending potential customers to it and secondly; search engines will see these links as votes of confidence and give boost to your site’s rankings.
Fifth is the choice of Landing Page. If your site deals with large number of areas or subjects, whether related to each other, you will have a large number of keywords that for a particular moment may not be related to each other. Consider a site www.b2blounge.com, here, the section of finance news, has nothing in common with business travel section. Ensure that the visitor lands at the right landing page. It is a technique that you must do.
