AdSense

If Google Adsense does not recognize your login, you don’t need to panic.

As a webmaster seeking to monetize online earnings, dreaded mail from Google is always the last thing one would like to hear in the world. Under these circumstances, if while logging in Adsense account you get to see a message that this is not a valid login (though for banned accounts, different message comes) one is surely to miss a heartbeat.

Google has clarified the matter about such messages coming while logging in and sought to clarify the confusion among publishers about this login error message, when you are sure about the email address you are using.

As per the clarification issued by Google, if you're seeing this error message, this means your Adsense account shares the same login and password as a Google Account, but the two accounts are not linked.

Google Adsense would be more attractive

More the adklicks, oops, ad-clicks, the more a webmaster stands to earn. Now Google has launched an automatic matching feature in their ad-words program. The feature, currently launched in Beta, has been offered to limited number of advertisers

Under this feature of automatic matching, the list of keywords chosen by the advertiser automatically gets expanded to include some more keywords that he might have omitted to include and uses up any remaining budget advertiser might have left over.

Surely, other context sensitive publishers as yahoo are not amused over this feature, with some calling it just another way to "bleed every penny of your budget every day", while others noting that it would be a good feature for busy advertisers who don’t have the skills or time to expand their own keyword lists.

Though Google allows advertisers option to opt out of the system, it claims feedback from the industry will ultimately determine if this feature is launched on full scale.

Adsense Mobile Content proves a boon for webmasters

Google extended adsense for mobile content in September, to help webmaster increase their AdSense revenue from mobile sites.

Jaehong Lee from Japanese mobile site Mikle was one of the highest grosser from this revenue. As per statistics released by Google, currently, Mikle's bulletin boards attract over a million unique visitors each month. With user-generated content ranging from entertainment to nutrition, Jaehong had been looking for a manageable way to monetize Mikle's mobile pages.

As the Google announced adsense open for mobile content, he started using AdSense for mobile content. The decision proved as a major money spinner for him as he says that "the performance of AdSense has been way better than our expectations. Moreover, the features for managing ad performance are easier and more convenient than other ads services. It saves a lot of effort for us in managing and monitoring ads.

Let your site earn more through Google Video Ads

After a long delay, Google introduced expandable video ads in search results. These results appear as One Box ads atop search results and along right side bar, where normal ads used to appear. These ads would provide another medium to maximize earnings for any webmaster.

Google expects these ads to be far more effective medium to monetize the site as it feels that the eyes of users automatically gravitate to the images more than the text. Google say that as Google's main search results pages include more images, video links and other elements, it is more appropriate to have corresponding advertising formats.

The market is keenly looking for response of Microsoft and Yahoo to Google’s move and how this move would affect the fortunes of Google and its publishers.

Do you get Spyware ads on your website?

Many Ad-sense publishers have been facing strange problem that the adsense ads on their web page are replaced by Spyware ads. When the site is visited through some other machine, normal ads are see on the page.

This means that the particular user machine is infected by malware that modifies windows host file. Normally, this malware creates an entry like 70.xx.xx.xx.pagead2.googlesyndication.com.

This cause the ads on a particular machine replaced by spyware ads.

This problem can be solved by opening the host file in windows/system32/drivers/etc and by deleting all the files except “127.0.0.1 local host” file.

After doing this, the machines should be loaded with updated antivirus program.

Google introduces new ad format to avoid accidental clicks

Getting banned from adsense account has been a nightmare for any webmaster that monetizes his site through adsense. Horror stories galore about how a publisher was banned by adsense for “no fault of his”. So much so that Google once acknowledged the mail volume it receives from publishers for accidental clicks on their sites. This even though Google has periodically acknowledged that it accepts that sometimes accidental clicks do happen with no malicious intent.

Google’s adwords exclusion program would keep publishers on toes.

Google has bowed to repeated requests from Ad Publishers to allow them to exclude certain sites from adwords campaign. Google’s new AdWords Site Exclusion tool allows advertisers to keep their ads out of broad categories of sites besides allowing them to exclude certain individual ones.

This tool would make it easier for advertisers to exclude sites where they feel the incoming clicks fail to convert at a satisfactory rate. This tool can be used with any type of campaign running on the content network: keyword-targeted or placement-targeted. Essential difference between earlier site exclusion feature is that now advertisers can exclude a category too.
