How to Increase Traffic
Gaining Visitors trust for Repeat Visitors
There can be no better pleasure for a webmaster than to see his growing and loyal customer base that keep returning. Returning customers automatically mean more traffic, more good will, more money, more sales or more of whatever the objective of your site is. But how to gain the trust of visitors? There are many sites on the net, some that come up to gain adsense arbitrage or some that aim to make instant gains for their worthless content and make money through google adsense or bidvertiser or the like.
Of course, as in my earlier articles, I emphasized that there is no alternative to original and authentic content, periodical updating, few other simple steps would help ensure the gain visitors trust and increase returning visitors
Link popularity for search engines
It would be too simplistic analogy that as a man is known by the company he keeps, website too is known by the links it gets. Just getting links from left right and centre for your site is simply not going to do you any good and rather irrelevant links or too much of it can make your site suffer in terms of search engine rankings. The more your site is linked to or referenced by other relevant sites of good ranking, the higher your site would ranked by search engines and also the higher the page rank you can expect to get. Obviously neither visitors nor the search engines would prefer the site with poor content.
The Art of getting Website traffic
As the relevance of the web is increasing, so is corresponding desire to get maximum traffic. One can not forget the change in market dynamics where most of the information is available as free. Then in such a situation, how would a webmaster source its revenue to sustain the site? With the advent of sudden emphasis on cost cutting all around and the emergence of Google as the revenue model to sustain the site has changed the way a site functions as business model.
At one time there was a sudden emergence of breed of “get rich quick professionals” who would promise to get you many cross links, dummy pages, with kits and tools to befool a search engine spider to get you higher ranking; immediately followed by equal zeal by search engines to protect sanctity of its results and eliminate misleading tactics of web masters.
The strategies to gain traffic which were valid a few years ago may not hold good today. The only universally agreed principle that still holds good so far is the relevance of unique and richness of content.
Flaws that Turn Your Visitors Away
It is consumers world!!. Visitor to your site needs perfection. Some pitfalls in your site and you bet your would scare the visitors away. Go to some site that offer expired or expiring domains and you would notice that sufficient number of sites have cropped up to offer these names. What are these expired domains? These are the domains which were once the dream eyed projects of some wanna’bes in IT world, which having failed to click, are now in market place for resale.
What are the reasons for such failures? One has to understand the user’s psyche...
Increase your Revenue: Make your visitor Stay longer on your site.
According to a leading web site, an average visitor spends about 3 hour per visit on site he lands through yahoo search engine. It is indeed an uphill task for any web master to retain visitor interest for so long. Need less to say; the longer a visitor stays with you, the greater is reason to believe that he is a convinced visitor.
As a webmaster it is imperative to understand and study the behavior of visitor as to which pages does he visit and how much time does he spend. The shorter the visit, the clearer it is that your site is not meeting the needs of the visitor for some reason.
Concentrating on following areas would increase the visitor satisfaction and ensure that they stay longer on your web site.
How to Effectively Promote your Web Site
Site promotion and getting more traffic on the net has been the single most important issue with the web masters. Over the period many techniques and strategies are advised to webmasters and this article brings you some recommended strategies that are guaranteed to pay dividends in terms of site promotion. Here we discuss various strategies to maximize traffic as Pay-per-click advertising, getting high ranking on search engine results, increasing links, creating a USP for your web site etc.
1. Pay per Click Advertising
This one aspect would give you as much dividends as your imagination and planning and if not used with proper study can be a total loss as well if not implemented properly. Care must be taken that click leads to the right landing page. It would be good idea to ensure that the ad appears on right set of web sites and not on some what related. A user coming through click from a non relevant site is not likely to turn into a buyer. A user would go well to keep track of sales conversion rate. Sale Conversion rate is clicks converted in sales per number of clicks. Of course ideal sales conversion rate of 100% is desirable but that does not happen in most likely scenarios because of nature of traffic on the net. It may vary from nature of site to site but generally 70% click through rate has been achieved by successful webmasters. DO give time to study the ad-script if you not getting healthy sales conversion rate and even if you are getting healthy conversion rate, keep tab on ad-script to keep it updated with changing times.
Build Quality Content to get more Visitors
This page is for webmasters and let’s be very clear amongst each other. All of us want more visitors as more visitors would ultimately mean higher traffic, higher ranking, higher links, higher PR, higher click thru rate and ultimately higher revenue. Webmasters use different practices to attract traffic and many of them, to say it rather bluntly, dubious, but they do not yield results in longer run. Such web masters shift from strategy to strategy in different short runs and my experience says, they are quite often, moderately successful in short to medium run and rarely successful in longer run. One simple factor that has always stood test of time and is widely accepted as the ultimate traffic builder is the content in a web site. I have web site with some of the very basic and weird articles, where I have used phrases that a layman would use in expressing his intent. One thing that most webmasters fail to appreciate is the use of keywords. Though, all the web masters would differ with this and say, that this is elementary and they take care of keywords, but they are wrong here. Most webmasters are highly qualified in one or another area of expertise and thus fail to understand and think in common man’s jargon. That is what keyword a common man would think when he is searching for some information. Instead of technical jargon in most part of articles, a simple jargon would be better.
