Role of Domain Extension in the Google Rankings

Though largely webmasters tend to opine that domain name extension does not matter in Google Ranking, yet the debate appears to be far from over.

Large number of webmasters seems to be equally convinced that domain extension does matter.

Most webmasters tend to prefer .com as extension. This is as they widely believe that Search Engine's would prefer a .com site over a .name or other extension. I don't believe this to be true even though, I too prefer .com extension over any other extension.

Never Mourn On a Low Rank in Search Engines

You might be up set when you notice that your web site is ranked low in the search engines. You might be in the search of a solution to this problem and might have thought of looking into the forums for a reason and remedy for it. But what you can do better is try to resolve it by yourself. Start up with a few simple steps to let the score be on a higher rung for your website.

Try To Get a Checkpoint

You can get a point where something went wrong to your site, if you are going for an analysis of the recent impacts made on your site. Try to make a note of the actions of others on your site for a period of the recent 3 weeks. Out of these, try to get those which you feel can have interfered with the matter or the trust of people on your URL. This will give you the answer for all your queries right away.

Take Care of Web Hosting and Manage the Downtime

Avoidable mistakes with your websites

Quite often, some small mistakes are enough to hamper the growth of a website and end up hurting it in a way that the site fails to attract decent traffic. This, ultimately results in site lagging behind on all fronts as Alexa, back links, PR, conversions and every thing else that a webmaster would wish for.

Falling prey to rogue proxies

To give meaningful results for any search query, any search engine would like to filter results to avoid duplicate content. Filtering results is not easy as a poor filter may weed out genuine results too leaving the visitor with limited choice of results.

Google Page Rank Updates- Why do some sites lose rankings?

With every page rank updates, many webmasters see their site lose rankings and such loss of rankings are not unusual. What are the reasons for it? While Google has never disclosed its algorithm of awarding page rank, we can reasonably guess the reasons for such loss. There are many reasons for such loss, major of them being duplicate content, number of unique visitors in a month visitors and ranking of main pages in the Google search results

Develop Natural Links for Higher Google Page Rank

In 1997, when I first started my own web site, I first installed Alexa Tool Bar that indicates the number of incoming links to your site and I was fairly impressed with the number of links that some sites had. Honestly, at that time I had no idea as how one link differs from others and it was only after lots of highs and lows in internet business that I realized what the links mean and how a bad link differs from a good link in terms of overall ranking of your site. for my first site that I had (I have since sold off that site), I accepted left right and centre all requests for incoming links or reciprocal links and started hoping that soon Mr. Google would be too impressed and started raining me with traffic and its much sought after PR. Of course both remained elusive till long and then in a rather hard way I learnt few lessons, which I am sharing with you.

Make your Site leave Lasting Impact

While designing a site, besides good coding structure, importance of certain other parameters as color layout, background color, fonts, site map, classification or architecture of the content is very important. A nicely coded site can be a dismal failure or a drag if these aspects are not given as much due attention as it needs. A site visitor is very demanding and if your site does not leave lasting impact on visitor by means of good and soothing colors smooth navigation and touches emotional appeal of a visitor to exclaim “Ah… this is a site that I wanted” , you may not be able to achieve the target that your site hs potential of.

Your Site needs to be dynamic to adapt to new search engine techniques

Period 2000-2002 witnessed sudden emergence of many sites which aimed to capitalize on Internet boom and many of these sites were just shady sites without any original content and heavily stuffed artificially with keywords. In fact, most of such sites aimed to attract traffic either by stuffing too many keywords and thus ranking high on search engines results or just getting traffic by getting ad clicks at a cheaper rate and the visitor of site was just offered a junk write up and compilation of Google ads leaving visitor no option but to click one of the ads. The webmaster earned the difference between the cost paid for such ad that the visitor clicked for visiting the site and the revenue that the ad clicked by the visitor on the site. These sites are also known as adsense arbitrage websites. Innumerable such sites can still be found on the net.

Ensure complete indexing of your site in search engines

While common impression is that to gain page rank and traffic from search engines one needs to buy links form sites, I personally tend to believe otherwise that getting the whole site indexed should be first priority. Links that you get voluntary from related sites on similar subject do better for your site than the links got by paying a price. I strongly believe that instead of spending money on buying links for a site with junk data, it is better to rather spend that money on getting quality content for your site. In fact, now a days search engines have started penalizing a site for having links from low rated or poor quality sites. The quality of inbound links would help your site getting fully indexed by a search engine.

Why getting listed on Yahoo is different

What makes yahoo different from most other search engines is that Yahoo is both a search engine and a directory edited by humans. Unlike spiders and bots used by most search engines, Yahoo has a team of professionals that manually review your site and approve it.
This explains why free submission at yahoo takes a long time and express submit service, a paid service, makes it happen faster. Presently, Yahoo charges annual fees of US$ 299 from Commercial web sites though, if you have a content rich web site, Yahoo surfers are likely to include your site without you ever submitting.
Just ensure following simple precautions and see your site listing zoom at Yahoo:
